EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cameron University invites high school, transfer and current students to audition for music scholarships on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Cameron Music Building—auditioners can register for a live performance or submit a video if they cannot attend.  ABC 7
  • Dr. Neal Weaver, the new superintendent for Lawton Public Schools, is touring the community to meet parents and students as part of his 100-day plan (focused on student learning). He said he will use these visits to learn local needs and build school pride.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Rep. Ronny Johns is urging a Senate vote on Rain’s Law (a measure to require fentanyl education in schools honoring Rain Reece, a Lawton teen who died from fentanyl poisoning). House and committee approvals have passed, and the bill awaits debate on the Senate floor.  ABC 7
