- ➤ Local veteran Matthew Sims published Why My Heart is Purple honoring 219 combat medics and corpsmen who died during the Global War on Terror — between 2001 and 2008. The book helps him manage PTSD and honor personal friends and is available now. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Southwest Oklahoma seniors are named Academic All-State honorees by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence after meeting high test scores from four local schools, including one from Lawton. They will be honored on May 2 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. ABC 7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City crews are repairing over 40 potholes reported across Lawton every day. The two-person team uses a patch truck (each fix takes five minutes) and residents can report spots via the I-Help portal. ABC 7
