Good morning, Lawton.

The Southwest Oklahoma Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will meet at the Comanche County Fairgrounds today, where Chapter President Donald Durant and guest speaker Dr. Shane Hunt from Cameron University will discuss an engineering program to boost local opportunities — a plan to grow the future workforce.

The Oklahoma House passed a bill to mark certain degrees and certificates as Credentials of Value to help guide students and meet workforce needs.

The measure now moves to the Senate for further review (Rep. Brian Hill said it will strengthen links between education and job opportunities).

Lawton Public Utilities Director Rusty Whisenhunt said the city’s three lakes hold over 100 billion gallons of water — enough to meet demands even if no rain falls for a year.
