ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Baker Hughes reported that Oklahoma’s oil and gas rig count declined by one to 44 even as the nation’s total rose to 553 rigs, with last year’s count at 51 active rigs. Southwest Ledger
- ➤ Gas prices have risen for the third straight week as the Iran conflict pushes Oklahoma’s average to $3.22 today. Lawton prices increased three cents from last week to $3.06 & the state now ranks third in affordable gas nationwide. ABC 7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The House passed HB 3263 to name the Morel Mushroom as Oklahoma’s official state mushroom, and the bill now heads to the Senate for review. Morel season is beginning early as warm weather drives earlier growth. ABC 7
- ➤ Public Utilities Director Rusty Whisenhunt said Lawton’s three lakes hold over 100 billion gallons, meaning 30% could remain even with no rain for a year. Meanwhile, repairs on the spillway and pump station upgrades are ongoing, and local officials plan a fish fry and tours in June. Southwest Ledger
