COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ This morning, community members gathered at the Lawton Family YMCA for the inaugural pickleball tournament hosted by the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma to support a good cause — attendees who missed today’s event can join next year. ABC 7
- ➤ AMBUCS supported Kid's Zone since it began and will remain involved as its new version is developed — confirming their long-standing commitment — while plans move forward. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ On Saturday, the Kiowa, Comanche, Apache Indian Veterans Organization welcomed home Vietnam war veterans in Lawton as part of the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration. The ceremony honored missing service members with a Missing Man Table that used symbols (white cloth, red rose, ribbon, lemon slice, salt, candle, Bible and empty chair) to represent their sacrifice and is set to continue through Veterans Day on November 11. - ➤ Lawton police are investigating two separate incidents from Friday that left people hospitalized—with further details pending. The Lawton Constitution
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Coach Melissa Avila took over Cameron Volleyball in January and is working hard to rebuild the team's confidence by building strong relationships with the players while preparing them for life both on and off the court. She came from Western Texas College — where she spent eight years — and won a national championship at Hastings College, and she wants local fans to help create a strong home atmosphere for the team.
