COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Lawton’s annual Trash Off is postponed until April 26 due to rain and rare snow chances, delaying the free cleanup event for residents to dispose of bulky items like batteries, oil and tires. Residents outside Lawton will pay $25 for the service. ABC 7
- ➤ Tomorrow afternoon, Lawton’s Public Safety Center lobby will host a sensory-friendly event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for individuals with special needs and sensory sensitivities. Attendees can meet McGruff the Crime Dog (a friendly police mascot) and learn about local law enforcement (in a relaxed setting). ABC 7
- ➤ On Day 142 of remembrance for the victims of the Oklahoma City Bombing, local partners honored David Jack Walker, 54, who worked as an environmental specialist at Housing and Urban Development and served as an active church member while raising his three daughters. His wife Janet Walker said he was competitive and loving—always ending his calls with 'I love you'. ABC 7

- ➤ Lawton City Councilwoman Sherene L. Williams of Ward 7 will host an information meeting for constituents on Monday at the Leslie Powell Gallery (620 SW D Ave) from (5 to 6 p.m.) where residents should bring written questions about neighborhood concerns as other city officials attend to serve refreshments. - ➤ Fort Sill held a graduation ceremony on Friday where about 400 soldiers completed basic training. Three distinguished graduates—Pfc. Ashley Gordon, Spc. Nevan Novitski and Pfc. Dianna Hemmingway—were honored for their achievements and will serve in Active Duty or the Army National Guard. ABC 7
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative partnered with the Lawton Public Library to launch a new fitness program for older adults. The SAIL classes, which can be done sitting or standing, will be held at the Patterson Center every Monday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. between April 7 and May 14 and require registration.
