She was born in Oklahoma City, learned many languages and planned to marry an Air Force lieutenant—her life is honored with the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum.

Five local schools have been awarded TSET Healthy Incentive Grants to support tobacco-free policies, nutrition and physical activity programs.
