- ➤ A father-daughter country bash took place Saturday at Hanza Heartland on Southeast Lee Boulevard as families enjoyed BBQ, music and games. DJ Michael Williams organized the event to uplift fathers of color with tickets at $30 at the door. ABC 7
- ➤ Lawton Community Enrichment Director Larry Parks said construction on Lake Ellsworth dam was about 50% complete Saturday as repairs that began last year included 110 rock anchors. The Lawton Constitution
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Nearly 1,800 first to fifth graders from Lawton Public Schools competed Saturday at Lawton High School football stadium in the 101st Rotary Track Meet, which ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The longstanding event showcased community support for the kids. ABC 7
- ➤ Today, Cameron University’s Department of Education partnered with the Catch a Special Thrill for Kids Foundation to offer 39 children with disabilities a day on the water in Lawton. Each child received a fishing kit with a rod, reel, tackle box and free lunch to support inclusion. ABC 7
