- ➤ The Lawton Public Library and Comanche County Health Department are hosting a community resource event today (from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) at the main library to connect residents with community health workers and local resources. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lawton Public Schools will offer free physicals for high and middle school student athletes on Thursday, May 7 and Tuesday, May 12 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lawton High School gym + athletes should complete online paperwork in advance. ABC 7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Lawton’s Stormwater Division is hosting its Save the Rain event on Saturday, Apr. 25 at Lowe’s from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — residents can buy rain barrels for $31.87 and weather radios for $15 while staff share tips on stormwater safety. ABC 7
- ➤ Participants in the Lawton Citizens Police Academy completed week 10 with a visit to the Comanche County Courthouse where District Judge Scott Meaders, Bill Grimes and other officials explained court operations and juvenile case handling. The program offered a clear look at the justice process. ABC 7
- ➤ The 2026 Fires Symposium at FISTA began April 13 with a golf tournament and social and will run through April 16 as over 1,000 military, allied, academic, and industry representatives gather in Lawton to discuss transforming a lethal fires force. ABC 7
