COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The annual Tour of the Wichitas bike ride will take place on June 20 at the Fort Sill Patriot Club with routes from 19 to 65 miles. Pre-registration is open June 19 from noon to 7 p.m. & on-site registration begins at 6 a.m. on the day of the event.  ABC 7
  • Dr. Don Sullivan, a Lawton veteran (a Cold War and Vietnam veteran), returned home after joining the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight that visited Washington, D.C. where he toured war memorials and received a warm welcome from local supporters.  ABC 7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FISTA Innovation Park and Lawton Public Library are hosting a 3D Open Lab for students 12 and older Thursday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the STEM Lab and Makerspace, where participants design projects and later pick up a 3D print (registration via email is required).  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Visitors from over 40 countries gathered Wednesday at the FISTA Innovation Park for the FIRES Symposium to connect military & allied industry leaders. FISTA President Dr. Krista Ratliff said the weeklong event highlighted state-of-the-art defense components and is expected to foster ongoing international collaboration.  Southwest Ledger
  • Retired Sergeant Major Tony Grinston leads Army Emergency Relief's annual campaign at Fort Sill and said the program will run through the Army birthday on June 14 to provide financial support to soldiers, retirees and their families in times of need.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kirk’s EMS announced Wednesday a landmark partnership with Our Blood Institute to launch a pre-hospital blood program that lets its ambulances administer life-saving blood products in Lawton & boost trauma care. The program will enhance emergency services for local patients.  The Lawton Constitution
