- ➤ The Southwest Oklahoma Iris Society will hold its spring iris show on Saturday at Central Plaza (located on Southwest 4th Street and Southwest C Avenue) in Lawton. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Carol Herrick has been named interim CEO of the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma following the resignation of former president Mark Woommavovah. Herrick—who has long built community partnerships—will lead the organization as it supports local agencies. ABC 7
- ➤ Today, 7News' Dave Hunter and Haley Wilson interviewed Christi Chambers, the Great Plains AMBUCS co-chair, about the upcoming Red River Craft Beer Festival in Comanche County which will feature craft beer, wine & activities. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Legislators advanced a bipartisan bill that would let teachers extend their six-week maternity leave by adding up to six weeks of accrued sick leave. The measure, which passed the Senate Education Committee unanimously — now moves to the full Senate for further consideration. ABC 7
- ➤ The Lawton Community Foundation will award $41,750 in scholarships to 19 high school seniors from Cache, Chattanooga, Elgin and Eisenhower High Schools—supporting their plans for postsecondary education. The Lawton Constitution

- ➤ Lawton City Council today rejected raising most city fees by 12 percent—choosing instead to impose a new fee on commercial pet businesses. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Representative Daniel Pae from Lawton has been named one of The Journal Record’s Oklahoma Achievers Under 40 for 2025—an honor for his leadership and service to the state. He chairs the House Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee and will be recognized at the Oklahoma History Center in May. ABC 7
