ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Lawton Fire Department crews responded to 59 calls and rescued 75 people, including 40 from the Pecan Valley Apartments when floodwaters from Meadow Creek and Wolf Creek merged—officials said heavy rain caused the rapid flooding. ABC 7
- ➤ Lawton Police Department confirmed one death after a vehicle drove into standing water near 2nd Street and F Avenue — first responders could not safely reach the submerged car and the dive team recovered the victim while notifying family members. ABC 7
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Comanche County Emergency Management said that floodgates at Lake Lawtonka and Lake Ellsworth were opened because of heavy rainfall on Saturday and water moving downstream will crest near Lawton in the early morning hours. Lawton Fire Department responded to dozens of flooding calls today, rescuing 75 people and urging residents to use multiple ways to receive alerts if water levels rise again. ABC 7

- ➤ Cyndi Munson, a Lawton native and representative of Oklahoma’s 85th district, announced her candidacy for governor in her hometown where she was raised. She will run a campaign focused on local issues and plans to bring change statewide. The Lawton Constitution
