COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lawton residents attended the Red River Craft Beer Festival yesterday at the Comanche County Fairgrounds despite severe weather, sampling local craft beers, receiving Amtrykes, and supporting the Great Plains chapter of AMBUCS (the event ran from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.).  ABC 7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pioneer Park Elementary is holding virtual classes today because heavy rain flooded the building & cleanup began as a result. Students should check their Rooms & Google Classroom for updates since cleanup will not finish in time for classes.  ABC 7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Highway 36 north of Grandfield at Deep Red Creek remains closed this morning due to floods, and officials expect the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to reopen it later today. Several roads at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge are also closed until debris is cleared — refuge staff say the east side may open by this afternoon.  ABC 7
