COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today on Community Conversations, 7News anchor Haley Wilson and Rock N’ Rumble Car Show chairmen Rick Hammock and Kyle Williams announced that Altus will soon host its 26th annual car show—offering a power wheel and hot wheel show for children and open registration for additional activities and music.  ABC 7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • One person died after an early morning wreck near the intersection of SE. 45th and Lee Blvd. in Lawton on May 1, and police are investigating the cause while the road remained closed for several hours.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fort Sill MWR opened its indoor archery range on Thursday—after years of planning. Leaders and community members gathered to mark the milestone—and they look forward to using the new facility for recreation.  The Lawton Constitution
  • A bill called Lauria and Ashley’s Law will require that those convicted of first degree or second degree murder serve at least 85 percent of their prison time before parole eligibility. The law — named for 16 year olds Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman who died in 1999 — moves back to the House for a fourth reading.  ABC 7
