- ➤ Today, Disabled American Veterans and its Auxiliary host a meet and greet with food and drinks from 6 to 8 p.m. at Best Western, and Saturday will feature a family day with a seafood boil and games from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Medicine Park Event Center in Lawton. ABC 7
- ➤ A local veterans mental health group will host the Plates with Purpose Fish Fry tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. at VFW Post 5263 — offering presale and day-of-event plates to support area veterans and the homeless. ABC 7
- ➤ The Comanche Little Ponies 56th annual celebration begins today at the Comanche County Fairgrounds and runs through Saturday, featuring vendors & contests with cash prizes, a ceremony honoring Garrison Tahmahkera, and live coverage by Lone Tipi Productions as organizers invite new princesses and mothers for Mother’s Day weekend. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln Elementary and Comanche Academy Charter School partnered with USA Track & Field and The Hershey Company to host a RunJumpThrow youth wellness event, engaging Pre-K to 5th grade students in track and field activities and offering free backpacks (with certificates) to celebrate an hour of exercise. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The burial of unclaimed veteran Private Charles L. Coleman (served during the Vietnam War) is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Fort Sill National Cemetery, and local veteran groups are invited to attend. ABC 7
