EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Thursday, the Douglass Learning Center hosted a senior celebration for Gateway and Lawton Virtual Academy students who attend an alternate education program. Students planned to pursue college, tech programs, military service, or work immediately—an event supported by Lawton Public Schools and community members.  ABC 7
  • Cameron announced a new STEM camp at FISTA that will give elementary students hands-on science and technology learning opportunities.  The Lawton Constitution
  • On Wednesday, May 14, participants attended the 3D printer workshop at the Lawton Public Library where one man designed a vase with an elephant motif—others printed their own designs.  The Lawton Constitution
  • Students pursuing a Master of Arts in Mental Health at Cameron are gaining skills in counseling and marriage and family therapy through hands-on clinical training at the college's Psychology Clinic—set to reopen in August—to prepare for licensure while providing free services to the local community. The program accepts students from any undergraduate major and offers a three-year full-time or five-year part-time track with real-world experience.  ABC 7

  • City Council members in Lawton are still reviewing a proposal that would add $725,428.92 to the renovation of McMahon Auditorium — they have raised questions before approving any new projects.  The Lawton Constitution
