GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Kevin Stitt signed House Bill 2047 (the Emerson Kate Cole Act) to improve allergic reaction response in schools, requiring schools to call 911 immediately after using epinephrine and to train staff yearly on recognizing anaphylaxis and food allergies.  ABC 7
  • Rep. Preston Stinson and Sen. Brent Howard said Governor Kevin Stitt vetoed House Bill 2048 that would have allowed rural hospitals to work with more pharmacies—citing pressure from out-of-state drug companies. They urged lawmakers to override the veto—ensuring that local patients continue receiving vital care.  ABC 7
  • Air Defense Artillery Commandant Col. Glenn Henke was promoted to Brigadier General on May 21 at Fort Sill and he thanked the Lawton community for their support.  ABC 7
  • City Manager John Ratliff is checking a temporary fix for leaks at the Museum of the Great Plains—City Council ordered repairs until a permanent solution is ready.  The Lawton Constitution
