COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Master Builders is hosting its annual BBQ today at VFW Post 1193 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can buy a half slab of ribs for $10 or a full slab for $20. ABC 7
- ➤ Run for the Fallen is an annual event at Fort Sill Patriot Club that honors service members who died serving our country with a 5K Run, 5K Ruck, and 1-Mile Fun Run on May 31. Participants can donate combat boots—used to display photos and mementos—in order to remember fallen soldiers along the start and finish lines. ABC 7
- ➤ Today, All About Understanding will host its End of School Bash at the Owens Recreation Center (1405 SW 11th St) from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate local youth finishing the school year with live performances, free food and a backpack giveaway for students. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cameron University offers a journalism and media production program that gives students hands-on training by teaching writing, shooting, editing and design. Students can choose broadcast work with CU News or print projects with The Collegian (which may offer scholarships up to $1500) as Professor Matt Jenkins said real-world skills prepare them for media careers. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Kevin Stitt signed Senate Bill 912 today to merge the responsibilities of the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority (OSIDA) with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) to boost the state's aerospace and aviation efforts. The law expands the Oklahoma Aerospace and Aeronautics Commission to nine board members and will take effect July 1. ABC 7
- ➤ Lawton Chief of Police James Smith was named the 2025 Large Agency Chief of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police. City Manager John Ratliff said his leadership in serving a community of more than 10,000 was key to earning the award. ABC 7
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ During Hospital Week, Comanche County Memorial Hospital held events to honor its workers including a picnic and service awards banquet—recognizing staff for long service and quality patient care. Employees said the celebrations boosted their commitment to serving the community. ABC 7
