CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Seniors at the Center for Creative Living in Lawton took part in a themed photo shoot designed to honor their strength and beauty—dressed in colorful fabrics, gold and silver jewelry, and headpieces, the project aims to make them appear as gods, goddesses, and mermaids. The photographs will be shown at the Leslie Powell Gallery starting July 11th at 6 p.m. for one month before they are displayed permanently at the center. ABC 7
- ➤ On June 19, the Lawton-Fort Sill community celebrated Juneteenth with a prayer breakfast at the Patterson Center where Mayor Stan Booker and other leaders shared messages of freedom and unity. More events will follow over the next three days—inviting all residents to join in honoring history. ABC 7

- ➤ Students attended Makerspace Camp Tuesday at the Life Ready Center where they launched multiple Columbia shuttle models in brief test flights — most models completed their flights successfully. The Lawton Constitution
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Wound Care Center at Comanche County Memorial Hospital Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine in Lawton reported an 85% healing rate and 95% patient satisfaction in 2024 as part of Wound Care Awareness Month — the center uses a team approach with cardiology and podiatry to help patients with diabetic and venous leg ulcers heal faster. 3rd annual set free praise dance conference
This community event is to encourage and empower our youth and young adults to use their gift of dance to build their relationship with God and draw others to Him. We are also bridging the generational gap with our youth to mentor and share life experiences to help them become servant leaders. Friday night will be a night of praise and worship, with instruction on the importance of covering as ministers and how colors have important meaning. Saturday will be all-day workshops including dance technique, mime, and lyrical dance. Each dancer will have two dance workshops based on their training and experience.
