- ➤ The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and Lawton Public Library are teaming up to hold a community job fair on July 25 (hosted at the Lawton Public Library) where local job seekers may find new work opportunities (further event details are pending). The Lawton Constitution

- ➤ Dolese Bros. built a new scale house at its Richards Spur quarry north of Lawton to replace a nearly 70-year-old building used for weighing and ticketing trucks. The structure uses insulated concrete forms for energy efficiency, larger windows for natural light, and improved check-in lanes—speeding up the daily processing of several hundred truck loads. - ➤ Residents interested in running for Lawton City Council seats in Wards 3, 4, and 5 may pick up election packets at the City Clerk’s Office inside City Hall at 212 SW Ninth St. The filing period runs from July 28-30 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Comanche County Election Board—candidates must be registered voters who have lived in their ward for at least six months, with a primary on Sept 9 and a general election on Nov 18 if needed. - ➤ The Lawton Youth Sports Trust Authority approved design development for the new PlayLawton SportsPlex on July 7 after a presentation by Eastern Sports Management project manager Brian Cann—this vote moves the project into the construction drawing phase. The complex will be built on a 120-acre site off East Gore Boulevard and is planned to include outdoor baseball fields plus an indoor facility with eight basketball courts that can convert to 16 volleyball courts, with expected design changes reducing the cost from about $41 million to $38 million. - ➤ The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is asking for public input on its new transportation plan that will guide future roadway projects statewide—residents in Lawton and across the state are invited to share their ideas. The Lawton Constitution

3rd annual set free praise dance conference
This community event is to encourage and empower our youth and young adults to use their gift of dance to build their relationship with God and draw others to Him. We are also bridging the generational gap with our youth to mentor and share life experiences to help them become servant leaders. Friday night will be a night of praise and worship, with instruction on the importance of covering as ministers and how colors have important meaning. Saturday will be all-day workshops including dance technique, mime, and lyrical dance. Each dancer will have two dance workshops based on their training and experience.
