- ➤ Soldiers Winning Souls for Christ Ministries will host their 13th Annual Community Cookout today at Verna Cooks Park on Southwest Georgia Avenue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to invite local residents for friendship and fellowship. ABC 7
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center is celebrating its 15th National Day of the Cowboy today with activities like longhorn roping — bronco riding — and creating cattle brands. The event is funded by the Oklahoma Arts Council and features educational exhibits including a Campfire Theater that tells the story of the Chisholm Trail. ABC 7

- ➤ On Friday, Fort Sill celebrated the 60th birthday of Army Community Service (ACS) with games, bounce houses, and a K-9 demonstration that honored its 60-year legacy. Officials said ACS has supported soldiers and families by helping ease stress for the military community. ABC 7
- ➤ ODOC finalized its purchase of Lawton Correctional Facility on July 25 at 9:30 a.m., officially renaming it Red Rock Correctional Center and ending private prison contracts. Governor Kevin Stitt cited the facility's terrible reputation as justification for the $312 million deal that comes with 400 extra acres for expansion — excluding weapons and vehicles. ABC 7
