- ➤ Lawton Public Schools is hiring bus drivers to deliver students — Jack Hanna said he calls the chance a mobile classroom that brings learning on the move. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Crews from Lawton Public Schools repaired the fence at Lincoln Elementary School that was damaged in the April floods — the work restored a vital safety feature for the school. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Townsquare Media and Southwest GMC, Buick & Honda of Lawton are hosting a school supply giveaway that will offer 40 free backpacks loaded with supplies and prizes (for students in Southwest Oklahoma) to help them prepare for school. The contest closes today. ABC 7
- ➤ FISTA hosted a multi-day STEM camp for high schoolers in southwest Oklahoma that concluded Wednesday — organizers said several state organizations collaborated on the event. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ The Lawton Public Library is partnering with OSU Extension to offer a three-part series on the Mediterranean diet titled 'Med Instead of Meds' that will cover seven steps of healthy eating—including mindful eating, meal planning and reading nutrition labels—and will feature live cooking demonstrations. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Oklahoma House Speaker launched the Capitol to Community series to help lawmakers connect with local leaders and residents during the legislative interim. The series began Wednesday with a meeting at the Chickasaw Nation Department of Commerce—where legislators discussed infrastructure projects and tribal-state partnerships—and will continue with upcoming events in Broken Arrow and Woodward. - ➤ A five-way race developed for east Lawton’s Ward 4 council seat as the final day of filings ended today (filings were submitted for Lawton municipal offices), setting the stage for the upcoming local election. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation announced upcoming regulation changes that will take effect in Fall, including daily use limits for waterfowl blinds on public lands and a new online check-in process—nonresident hunters seeking gamebirds on Wildlife Management Areas must now have permits while new import rules for cervid parts are enforced. The department also reclassified hybrid striped bass as a game fish and set Free Hunting Days for September 6–7 with Free Fishing Days scheduled for June 6–7. ABC 7
