- ➤ A July report shows that nationwide electricity prices have gone up faster than other costs, and in Oklahoma rates are expected to climb from 60 to 350 percent by 2035. Many households have already seen higher bills as utilities add extra charges to cover rising expenses. Southwest Ledger

- ➤ Rep. Daniel Pae, R-Lawton, was named a 2025 Legislative Champion by Mental Health America— a nonprofit that aids mental health— for his work as chair of the House Appropriations & Budget Subcommittee on Human Services and for writing House Bill 2012 that extended harm reduction programming. - ➤ On August 12, Kiowa Chairman Lawrence SpottedBird joined 7News to discuss the Elk Creek Kiowa Casino — he noted that the Tribe had achieved Self-Governance with the Department of the Interior and mentioned other topics during the segment. ABC 7
- ➤ The Comanche County Board of Commissioners approved a $100,000 settlement with former employee Kenny Curry after his firing in 2023, following a 2 to 1 vote on Aug. 4. The settlement will restore 140 sick hours and 320 vacation hours to Curry and be funded by the county’s insurance carrier paying $60,000, with Districts 1 and 2 covering $20,000 each—District 3 is exempt.
