COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A vigil for late political activist Charlie Kirk is held today in Cameron Park by the Cameron chapter of Turning Point USA—speakers include Jackson Lehmeyer and state senator Dusty Deevers—with hot dogs and drinks available as organizers advise attendees to bring a chair and wear a red shirt.  ABC 7
  • The JBF kids consignment pop-up sale will take place at the Great Plains Coliseum from Sept. 18 through Sept. 20—offering over 60,000 items including name-brand clothing, shoes, baby gear and toys at 50% to 90% off retail. Admission is free with paid presale options available.  ABC 7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Women’s Business Summit of Southwest Oklahoma returns to Lawton at the Great Plains Technology Center on Sept. 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include a Women in Business Panel, a BAIL panel of experts, networking opportunities, women-owned vendors and keynote speaker Amy Downs — a motivational speaker and Oklahoma City Bombing survivor.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 751 will hold its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20—BINGO Country at 2506 Cache Road will host the gathering for the group.  The Lawton Constitution
  • Comanche County Commissioners signed a plan on Monday allowing the hospital board to issue a $55 million revenue note + the funds will support operations and services at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.  The Lawton Constitution
  • The Army Recruiting Office in Lawton helps many people join the military by asking pre-qualifying questions, testing, and doing a physical. SFC Geoffrey Reiling said the office works with local schools and events and is at 1423 Northwest 67th St.—open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Comanche County Memorial Hospital has agreed to acquire Southwestern Medical Center to form Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma—expanding access to quality healthcare for local residents.  The Lawton Constitution
  • Reynolds Army Health Clinic has launched the Q‑Anywhere system that adds a QR code to each prescription bottle cap—helping patients scan to start their refill process anytime and anywhere. The clinic expects the system to reduce wait times at its pharmacy.  ABC 7
