- ➤ The Comanche Nation Casino will host a celebrity meet and greet on Sept. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. — part of the 32nd Annual Comanche Nation Fair — where fans can meet actress Julia Jones and actor Raoul Trujillo. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lawton Public Schools hosted STEM Days that engaged students in hands-on learning when eight-year-old Jared Midkiff proudly built a 20-inch tall stack of cups—an activity that shows his excitement for science and math. The Lawton Constitution
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Lawton announced that a new ordinance bans homeless camping on public and private property without permission—effective immediately. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Ryan Walters may resign as Oklahoma superintendent of public instruction as early as this week—sources say he could be moving to a new job and his office has not yet commented. Walters, elected in 2022, has held the role since then. ABC 7
- ➤ At Tuesday’s meeting, Lawton City Council approved an ordinance banning unauthorized camping on public and private property—a measure that requires written permission—and amended its Homeless Action Plan to restrict CDBG funds to locals while raising the bus ticket budget to $30,000. The decisions were unanimously declared as emergency actions. ABC 7
HEALTH NEWS
