COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Friendship Baptist Church in Lawton is hosting a free food giveaway today. Those in need must come in person between (10 a.m. and 2 p.m.) as food is given on a first-come, first-served basis. ABC 7
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The McMahon Auditorium Authority and the City of Lawton’s Arts & Humanities Division announced that Carnegie Library Art Classes have returned with enrollment now open for courses including watercolor, line dancing, and acrylics for community members of all ages. A free media literacy course will be held on Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.—at Carnegie Library Town Hall. ABC 7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials with the City of Lawton provided an update on Southwest 38th Street construction, saying the street is closed past Walmart to through traffic and northbound travel will be reduced to one lane past Lee Boulevard—Doctor Elsie Hamm Drive will be fully closed at 38th Street by Tuesday with warning signs placed at 27th Street and midway. Ole Kim Road will also be closed during this phase while access to the Cameron University ballfields and sports complexes remains open. ABC 7
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Goodwill Adult Day Services in Lawton is highlighting National Adult Day Services Week from Sept. 21–27 to bring attention to programs that help elderly and disabled community members. The organization offers daily care, health assistance, and social activities with dedicated staff—helping participants build independence and enjoy life. ABC 7
