  • GMT anchors Kyle Weatherly and Dan Threlkeld interviewed USO Oklahoma’s executive director Jennifer Walters about upcoming programs and services — including the Fall Festival set for October 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the USO facility on Fort Sill.  ABC 7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yolonda Ramos was honored as Indigenous Woman of the Year in Lawton—she said she accepted the title not for recognition but as a reminder of her purpose.  The Lawton Constitution
  • The City of Lawton's Arts and Humanities Division and the McMahon Auditorium Authority are taking nominations for the 2025 Lawton Cultural Awards and Art Purchase Competition Award—local artists and cultural groups may be honored for their work.  The Lawton Constitution

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A survey on energy activity in the Tenth District showed that work dropped in the third quarter with lower earnings and fewer jobs than in past years. Companies said they do not expect more oil drilling or spending in the next six months — higher prices are needed to boost profits.  Southwest Ledger

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cameron University staff member Vicki Henson received the Francie Wright Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oklahoma Veteran Education Specialist Association for her 40 years of service in veteran education, marking a proud milestone in her career.  The Lawton Constitution

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medicare open enrollment begins today and lasts until Dec. 7—allowing Medicare users to review and change their health plans and prescription drug coverage for the coming year.  ABC 7
  • Above-knee amputees from across the country gathered in Duncan this week at Dream Team Prosthetics camp where experienced prosthetic users mentored new users in adapting to daily challenges. Participants arrived a day early to meet peers and tour the facility that offers guidance for independent living.  ABC 7
