COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Cameron University will host a trunk-or-treat in the Howell Hall parking lot on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.—departments, student organizations, and Fishy's Friends Rescue will present Halloween displays, candy, and adoptable pets. ABC 7
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Cameron University held its annual Movie Night at the Vaska Theatre Monday night. The event showed student films and CU Professor Dr. Matt Jenkins’ short film 'Vapor Trails'—a Q&A with the filmmakers was also offered and attendance was free. ABC 7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawton Citizens Academy ended its 13-week course with a graduation ceremony at City Hall, where students learned about the roles of the Human Resources department and the City Clerk’s Office — which manages hiring for 900 employees and preserves Lawton’s records. City Manager John Ratliff and Communication Director Caitlin Gatlin presented certificates as graduates praised the program for strengthening their ties to the city. ABC 7
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lawton Public Library and Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative will host a seven-week Tai Chi for Better Balance series starting Nov. 3 to help improve balance and wellness. The classes are open to everyone interested in gentle exercise. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Six years after spending over a month in the NICU at CCMH, Stephanie and other former patients celebrated with the nurses who saved their lives—enjoying fall activities and costumes at a local reunion. The event is part of an annual tradition that keeps families connected with the hospital team. ABC 7
- ➤ Lawton makeup artist Asiane Solomon launched Glam with a Cause at Honey and Milk Spa to gift two complimentary glam sessions this October to cancer survivors in honor of her family's battle with breast cancer + survivors can sign up by emailing or visiting the spa's website. ABC 7
