- ➤ The Lawton Food Bank is facing record demand—serving between 400 and 500 people daily compared to the usual 250 to 300—and community partners like the Rotary Club and BancFirst are stepping in with donations and food drives as SNAP benefits delay increases need. ABC 7
- ➤ United Way of Southwest Oklahoma will host a food drive Saturday to collect non-perishable food for families affected by the government shutdown—volunteers will be stationed at Walmart and Homeland locations in Lawton and donations will go to the Lawton Food Bank and additional drop-off sites open through November 7. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lawton Public Schools' robotics team adjusted its robot to overcome challenges they faced at a recent middle school event — their teamwork proved vital in solving technical issues — and they plan to refine their design further. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Yesterday, Great Plains Technology Center hosted its Tech Know Zone event for eighth graders from local schools—students used an app in a scavenger hunt on campus to learn about career paths. The center will host a similar tour in November for 10th graders. ABC 7
