- ➤ Cameron University's Concert Choir and the Gold Notes jazz choir will host a free holiday concert on Nov 20 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lawton—featuring festive songs and renditions by various artists. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Oklahoma professors have raised academic freedom concerns after a federal memo sent in August stated that faculty may research topics related to race, color, national origin, ethnicity, or sex if not done in ways that might create hostile environments— the local AAUP chapter called the phrase 'objectively or subjectively hostile environment' unconstitutionally vague. - ➤ Lawton City Council approved an extra $1.7 million for the Museum of the Great Plains renovation to repair extensive damage, adding to a planned $6 million project. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ The City of Lawton will host a Veterans Day ceremony on November 11—designed to honor military veterans’ service and sacrifice. Military veterans are invited to take part in the city event. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Lawton businessman Gene Love—honored Tuesday by the Turnpike Authority and Transportation Department for his many years of service to improve Oklahoma’s surface transportation network—was recognized by officials for his lasting commitment to better roads. The Lawton Constitution

- ➤ Geoffrey Buhlig now leads the Oklahoma Parkinson’s Alliance Lawton Office — a United Way partner — where he offers vital support programs including a popular patient group for those facing Parkinson’s.
