Good morning, Lawton.

The Harvest Plenty House of Prayer Church will host its third annual Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway on November 22 at 9 a.m. in partnership with the Lawton Food Bank (baskets will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last).

Tribal nations across Oklahoma are stepping in to provide emergency food and resources as a 40-day federal shutdown stalls SNAP benefits—tribes have organized food pantries, bison meat distributions, and food tailgates for residents in need.

Tribal leaders say they will continue weekly distributions until government funding resumes—helping many cope with ongoing food insecurity.
