- ➤ Friendship Baptist Church is hosting a free food giveaway today from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to help those in need—food will be available only on a first-come, first-served basis and to individuals who come in person. ABC 7
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Lawton Arts and Humanities Director Jason Poudrier previewed upcoming events (Holiday in the Park) and confirmed planned McMahon Auditorium renovations (aimed at modernizing the venue) during an interview with 7NEWS anchors Kyle Weatherly and Dan Threlkeld. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Lawton Public School Foundation distributed $260,000 to local public schools by giving $10,000 to each building, and administrators said the funds will help meet important needs. The foundation will provide teachers with an additional $200,000 next week so that schools can improve programs for students. ABC 7
- ➤ The Lawton Public Library is hosting a photo contest for Children’s Book Week with the theme 'Get Caught Reading' — participants must email a photo, name, age, and phone number by November 30 — and winners will be notified on December 5. ABC 7
- ➤ The McMahon Foundation donated $3 million to Cameron University to create the McMahon School of Business in Lawton. The Oklahoma Board of Regents accepted the gift earlier this week— the funds will support tuition, two endowed chairs and professorships, a $500,000 innovation lab, and technology upgrades. ABC 7
