COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Lawton Farmers Market will host its annual Kids Entrepreneur Day on Saturday to let children in kindergarten to 12th grade sell their handmade products at the market. Applications are free and must be submitted by Nov. 19 — only the first 15 will be accepted — and selected participants will set up by 8 a.m. with sales ending at 1 p.m. while an adult is present. - ➤ Lawton schools, businesses, and community groups must register by 5 p.m. today for the Holiday in the Park Parade. The parade will begin Saturday with a Frost Your Fanny 5K at 5 p.m. and a parade at 6:30 p.m. — the theme is Island of Misplaced Toys and festivities continue through Dec. 31 in Elmer Thomas Park. - ➤ Oklahoma's new state superintendent of public instruction said he will focus on literacy — teacher recruitment and retention and career pathways during his remaining 14 months in office. The Lawton Constitution
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ United Way of Southwest Oklahoma partnered with local agencies to help families receive affordable mental health counseling for depression, anxiety and trauma. Christian Family Counseling Center served over 2,200 clients and held its 40th anniversary open house on November 17 at Southwest Lee Boulevard. ABC 7
