- ➤ The Lawton Food Bank will resume indoor shopping on January 5th as it prepares a new system where families wait briefly before receiving color-coded carts to shop like at a local store—officials have already begun stocking items and are seeking more volunteers. The update marks the first time since the pandemic that the food bank will offer this type of service. ABC 7
- ➤ Students from across the community will set up shops during Young Entrepreneurs Day at Lawton Farmers Market at 77 SW 4th Street from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday— the annual event gives local young makers a chance to showcase their work. The Lawton Constitution
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Oklahoma Attorney General’s office shared tips to help donors avoid holiday scams by advising them to check if charities are federally recognized and registered in Oklahoma. Donors are urged to research carefully and avoid organizations that pressure for quick gifts (legitimate charities never rush contributions) and offer prizes (if an offer seems too good, it probably is). - ➤ City offices in Lawton will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday so trash collection routes will change — Comanche County offices will also be closed during the holiday. The Lawton Constitution

- ➤ Central Plaza and Our Blood Institute will team up tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to hold a blood drive in the former Zales space—donors will receive a long-sleeve shirt and a chance to win a $250 Golden Ticket. ABC 7
