COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Hilton Garden Inn donated a large amount of furniture to Embrace Hope (a local nonprofit) in Lawton to support dozens transitioning out of homelessness. The donation is expected to boost local housing efforts. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Oklahoma’s Purple Heart veteran SFC John Clipp was chosen as the state representative for the 2026 Purple Heart Patriot Project (honoring his military service) and will soon join fellow honorees in this national recognition effort. The Lawton Constitution
- ➤ Lawton AMBUCS ended the year by presenting eight local nonprofits with $2,500 checks and three organizations with $1,000 checks, supporting community programs in the area. The awards were given as a year-end gesture before the community entered a new year. The Lawton Constitution
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Oklahoma State Department of Education released report cards for Lawton's 23 public schools, showing academic achievement dropped to a D while academic growth improved to a C; Lawton high schools earned D or better while some scored higher for postsecondary opportunities (with Lawton ranking 335th of 432 in achievement).
